On Friday, July 2nd, 2021, just a little after 3:00 PM the Coastside Fire Protection District responded to a report of smoke coming from the garage of a house near the top of El Granada Blvd.. Upon arrival of the first fire engine, it was observed that there was heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage of the residence.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames and kept the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. All occupants, except for a cat were accounted for and were already outside of the house. Coastside Fire Protection Engine 40 was able to rescue the cat. There were no reported injuries to the occupants, their pets, or any of the first responders.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Coastside Fire Protection District was assisted by the San Mateo County Fire Department, San Mateo County Sherriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, North County Fire Authority, and 7 Coastside Fire Protection District Volunteers.
