Miramar Residents Collect 1,128 Signatures For Petition to “Replace the Medio Creek Bridge At Current Location”

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
PETITION. A small group of local volunteers, over a seven day period, gathered a total of 1,128 signatures on a petition to “Replace the Medio Creek Bridge At Current Location.”
I have attached the first of the scans of the signed petitions, with subsequent emails providing the remainder.
A total of 65.2% of these signatures were by non-residents and 34.8% were residents of HMB, El Granada, Princeton, Moss Beach or Montara.
These signatures clearly show how important the Coastal Trail is to both residents and visitors for coastal access, and how nearly everyone wants to see the bridge replaced as soon as possible at its current location.
Almost no one we talked with (less than 1%) wanted the bridge to go inland or to continue the long detour we have now.
Signers frequently mentioned how the current detour is inconvenient and dangerous.
One bike rider said he crashed on it and showed me the cuts on his arm.
An older woman with a walker said the detour was unrealistic for her to travel on and prevented her from accessing the trail – an ADA issue.
Please consider these signatures as an indication of the “will of the people” and have your revised letter on the MCC’s position on the County’s plan to replace the Mirada Road Pedestrian Bridge, reflect those desires.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,

Patrick Tierney
