General Comments –
County must emphasize in any community meeting or communication that the pump track use, general locations and maximum 1 AC size has already been determined, and that it is a design meeting and not a space usage meeting. Community input is only focused on the design characteristics of the pump track. Graphic needs to show more accurately general size and location. A setback buffer will be provided between track and existing eucalyptus trees to minimize damage to the track and safety concerns with falling debris.
- County and designer need to be on the same page before showing any options to the public.
- Project is supported by GCSD, although formal funding agreement not complete.
Coastside Mountain Bike has raised funds for the project. - Picnic table spacing should reflect social distancing concerns.
- Avoid week of Sept 24 for community meeting; conflict with another meeting.
- The pump track designer will collaborate with the focus group to develop one single preferred concept plan with skills feature options for community comment (not 3 alternatives)
- Preferred option features:
- Seamlessly integrate 3 areas for multiple continuous loop experience
- Provide variety of challenges and experience; balance safety and challenge
- This is not a jump track, careful design of “table tops”
- Potential trail skill features should be on optional routes. Perimeter trail should provide access for non-skilled riders.
- Like bridge, not logs.
- Provide a flow course that can be accessible by all skill levels
- Integrate beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain with “informal” barrier/ separation
- Universal terrain
- Interior + exterior integration
- Tracks should offer a variety of lines; must be rideable from any direction
- “want to be able to loop around in a million different ways”
- Ability to link lines
- Allow space for entry level riders to feel safe, but do not make beginner track completely separated from the other lanes
- Slow speed terrain (skills course) along perimeter
- Allow access to middle space
- Skills course: more features the better
- Different features will diversify the use and promote more access
- Keep space around the technical terrain for those who want to bypass
- Work closely with bike community to learn favorable terrain during process
