VIDEO At the 6/2/2020 City Council meeting, at the very end of a 3 hour meeting, Debbie Penrose follows up on the question of people not wearing masks on the Coastal Trail.
Her idea? Given the number of emails council are getting about people not wearing masks, and offers to help hand them out, Debbie suggested a Mask Ambassador program. Masks saying:
- “I Love the Coastal Trial”
- “I Love HMB”
- “I Love HMB Main Street” and the like.
Many cities across the country are asking people to seriously wear masks in order help stop the spread of the Corona virus. (Note these masks are NOT N95). By wearing masks we can stop the droplets and aerosol that come out of our mouths when we talk, cough and sneeze.
Although the spread outdoors, is relatively low risk, HMB is asking people to where masks to protect people who may be more at risk.

VIDEO. Half Moon Bay City Council’s, Debbie Ruddock, came up with brilliant nudge to encourage people to wear masks on the Coastal Trail.
The Coastal Trail is pretty narrow…so she asked the City Staff if we could “make a splash” and “create the Buzz” by designing a mask in order to encourage people to use masks on the Coastal Trail.
Arriving the 1st of June. Only 250 for the first run to make sure people like them.
