SEWER AUTHORITY MID-COASTSIDE PARTNERS WITH PG&E AND KW ENGINEERING TO REDUCE ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT

Half Moon Bay, CA, April 25, 2019 – The Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM) announced that it is partnering with Pacific Gas & Electric and kW Engineering to replace aging equipment, cut operating costs, and reduce its carbon footprint.

“SAM has many projects identified in its adopted 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan to replace its aging infrastructure and equipment with more efficient and cost-effective alternatives. As part of the planning process, SAM is committed to developing and maintaining partnerships to share funding and identify grants and other sources of financing to offset costs.” Beverli A. Marshall, General Manager

SAM’s owns and operates 6 miles of pressure force main, two miles of gravity sewer pipe, three pump stations, and a wastewater treatment facility. The current project will replace an aging aeration blower with a more energy efficient model that will reduce SAM’s carbon footprint by approximately 38 tons per year. The project qualifies for the PG&E Energy Efficiency Rebate Program and the Energy Efficiency Retrofit Loan Program (EEF) with on-bill financing that lends money – interest free – as part of the monthly utility bill. This is the second such project that SAM has utilized to reduce its energy use and cut operating costs.
