DEADLINE EXTENDED! – 2021 HIGH SCHOOL EARTH DAY ESSAY CONTEST

The City of Half Moon Bay is proud to partner with Republic Services and Peninsula Clean Energy to offer two (2) $1,000 scholarships to two Half Moon Bay high school students who display a commitment to making Half Moon Bay more sustainable.

Submission Requirements:

THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED! Applications must be submitted electronically to [email protected] by 11:59pm on Monday, June 7 and include:

  • A completed application.
  • A personal statement describing your plans after high school, interests in sustainability, your activities within the community, and anything else you want us to know (500 words max).
  •  An essay responding to the prompt (750 words max).

Applicants are also asked to be available on June 15, 2021 at 7pm to receive their reward at the Half Moon Bay City Council meeting (may be virtual or in-person).

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

Applicants must be a junior or senior high school student and enrolled at Half Moon Bay High School, Pilarcitos High School, OR a resident of the City of Half Moon Bay. Proof of enrollment or residency may be required.

 

2021 Essay Prompt:

What can you do to inspire community-wide change to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the City of Half Moon Bay? Potential topics include, but are not limited to*:
